It started with a notebook.
I’m learning as I go.
I’m Jay Jones, and I’m from Cleveland. Defenders of the Land is my first attempt at publishing—a chance to turn the characters I drew as a kid into books I can share with you.
Back to the basement
The inspiration came from rediscovering my old artwork in the basement. There they were: the notebook pages, the strange superheroes, the handwritten dialogue, and the jokes that probably seemed a lot funnier in 1990.
Looking through those drawings made me want to give the characters another adventure. The stories and designs have changed since those early comics, but I wanted to keep the imagination and humor that got them started.
Origins, Aftershock, Lava Lips, and Clash in Cleveland are now available in paperback and as Kindle ebooks on Amazon. I’m learning as I go. Thanks for taking a look—and for giving these characters a chance all these years later.
